Welcome To Sulmona in AbruzzoSome of you will already have been following the Facebook page which I have been co-editing for nearly 2 years now.  What started as a voluntary project, to help promote the local area which we love, has now grown into

If you are near Sulmona this weekend, why not come along and enjoy the Ovidian themed weekend of fun and entertainment?  There are displays, exhibitions, tastings, competitions and some great shopping opportunities.

As promised, a post that may be helpful to others. We bought a LHD UK reg car last year and are now trying to re-register it here. Fingers crossed we are all sorted now but we have had to jump a hurdle which we had not anticipated.

We've realised that it may be another 3 years before this one has a home with us so perhaps it's time to pass it on. It's an AEG Favorit 40850. No longer in production but spare parts are available if necessary. Bought in 2005.

We're off back to the UK for a visit by car and we'd like to stay in or near the city. Although I'm happy to do the usual searches on-line it would be helpful to have any ideas from Forum members.

Our lease is up at the end of April and we are putting out feelers.  We've spoken to our local agents, asked our friends and colleagues, and we'll start to call the numbers on a selection of bright orange Affitasi notices that we've seen around to

Actually I've been trying to change my profile but so far have failed...I totally understand that the nature of this page has changed.  Thanks for letting me know.

Actually I think what Susan is offering is probably right up your street.  Abruzzo is gorgeous and the courses Susan runs are really very good.  If the course coming up does not suit then do get in touch as she may very well be able to accomodate you on a bespoke basis.  Susan is not a 'school' so you won't find large groups or a standardised programme.  Worked for us!

I googled them and found this pinterest page. http://pinterest.com/parkin/posters-ads-ephemera/ I love these and I bet they are very 'collectible'.  Does anyone know of a poster shop / dealer maybe in one of the big cities?

Is that possible?  Where did you find it?  This site seems to be just an album type site for personal uploads.

There is definitely a pool in Francavilla on Viale Maiella although it may only be an indoor one.  Ask as soon as you get there.  The waves however are pretty weedy.  The incline is very gentle and the waves lap gently rather than crashing onto the beach.  It's very safe for kids.  Buona permanenza!

We also had nil to pay (prima casa, dependent child) and I was advised to do nothing - at least for the time being. Things may well have changed for the seconda rata so we will revisit this before the December payment is due.

I think my concern would be on what basis would you appply for residency?  If you don't have a job here (in Italy) then your local comune would most likely ask to see proof of means of support here ie income / savings / pension etc.  It's not a given that it would be granted and then where would you be? I think many people bought (and were encouraged to buy) prima casa when actually it was only a rough plan to live here at some stage in the future. If this is seen as a tax dodge, rather than you simply keeping your options open as you move forward, then you may be in hot water here.  I would take advice from a commercialista immediately as the clock is already ticking.

No idea at all why you can't email them - sorry but your post makes no sense to me.  Either way they are at  lagrandequercia-abruzzo @ hotmail.com

I'm not sure exactly where the Val Vibrata is, or nearby towns, but I can thoroughly recommend this B&B.  http://www.lagrandequercia-abruzzo.com/index.html It's just outside Teramo.  The owners are English speaking and extremely helpful as well as being super nice.
