Word of the Week: SPAZIO

We’ve followed with trepidation astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti’s launch into space to reach the International Space Station, which happened last night. Therefore, we had to pick spazio -space- for our Word of the Week!

Spazio has the double meaning of space in the astronomical sense, but also space as area, room, just like in English.

Some examples:

Samantha Cristoforetti è stata la prima donna italiana a volare nello spazio – Samantha Cristoforetti was the first Italian woman to fly into space.

There is plenty of space in the wardrobe to hang your clothes – c’è molto spazio nell’armadio per i tuoi vestiti.   

A space walk is una passeggiata nello spazio.

Mi fai un po’ di spazio? Can you make some room for me?
