Then September came...My good memories of this summer: granita and brioches for breakfast, long walks along the sea before going to bed, "arrostite" in the evenings = BBQ , wake up and be delighted by the gentle fresh air..

Claudio Baglioni (Rome - 10 May 1951) is a pop singer, song-writer and composer who made the big-time with Questo piccolo grande amore. I guess that every loving couple in Italy has dedicated this love song to his/her lover!

Along with Italian Language and Italian song I thought we should also venture a bit into more general Italian

Hi Iggy,I asked for advice to one of my friends who lives in Marsala. Here you are her indications:Birgi Airport in Trapani, is the closest to Marsala (12 km). The only company which operates there is Ryanair. Its destinations are in the map at this link: http://www.aeroportotrapani.com/eng/voli.aspThe public transport system works well in the Trapani province, so Marsala-Trapani-Mazara-Castelvetrano (Selinunte) are well connected by bus.As an alternative, you could arrive in Palermo Airport but it takes longer to go to Marsala. Once at the airport you need first to reach the city centre and take the bus to Marsala. It takes about two hours to go to Marsala. The bus line is called "Autoservizi Salemi".Hope this helps

Hi! Marsala is well worth a visit. I strongly advice you to:

  • visit the town city centre - the main square brings you in the Italian atmosphere, also because Marsala is the place where Garibaldi and the Mille arrived
  • take a trip to the Mothya Island - the "imbarcadero" is just 5 km from Marsala - to learn more about past and visit many Greek remains as Necropoli.
  • visit the "Cantine Florio" cellar and taste Marsala wine;

I agree with Sebastiano suggestion to visit the Greek temples. I personally prefer Selinunte than Agrigento for two reasons:1. It is closer to Marsala (about 40 minutes by car)2. It has a bigger archeological park and you can enter the interior of some of the temples - even if I must admit Agrigento temples are in less damaged conditions.I'll post some videos and photos of my last trip to Marsala and in the surroundings and try to provide you as many information as I can.A presto :)

Hi, hope you will participate as you were used to and that you'll enjoy the new community.I'm waiting for pics of the wall! ;)

Once upon a time there were Forums. Each forum represented a topic. You chose a forum you wanted to participate in and you just had to start a new thread or post a message. Stop.Then a new community was created and the familiar forum structure disappeared. Now you have different content types, wikis, posts, restaurant reviews, galleries (and more to come!). All this content is sorted by topic and location (not by subforums), so whenever you create some content you get to choose the topic and location.If you want to view specific content you just have to click on the topic button and then choose the topic to view all the posts related to a topic and comments related to it. Plus, the button "new activity" lets you see what changes came in a group or a thread.As we are still working on the software, we hope to improve your navigation through the website further.

  • What's in common: the main topic remains ITALY
  • What's the difference: taking part in the creation a stronger Community that is more flexible - you can create your own groups, your own topics (via tags) and find things easier. You no longer need to worry about whether something goes under "General" or "Tuscany" or "travel" - you can have all at once.
  • Morale della storia: the more you use this new tool, the better you get used to. The more you get used to, the better you enjoy it. The more you enjoy it, the faster you will forget the Forums. the more you forget the Forums, the better you use this new tool..lets hope it all ends well (?)

In bocca al lupo!

Hi Bill, why don't you check out this article titled The sparkling city of Ravenna we recently published on the web.Actually, it may help you to learn more about Ravenna and its most relevant monuments to visit, such as Galla Placida. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated, both from you Bill and Gala Placida.
