Remember that the adaptors have a low amperage rating - so don't put anything too hefty on it. .

"I need to get a permesso di soggiorno di dimora and also get all the utilities put in my name, " I'd use my estate agent for this - mine dealt with setting up my bank account and direct debits for utilities,  codice fiscale  etc etc[We pay them enough - they might as well earn their commission] .

Talk to your local education Authority to find out which schools teach Italian to GCSE level. Then talk to the school and ask them to add you to the list of 'pupils' to be examined.  They may also be able to help with general advice/learning support. [We did our Italian GCSE's at the local school - my son sat his GCSE Italian at the same time  [all passed] Herts exam dates are shown onhttp://www.goffs.herts.sch.uk/website/Goffs%202006/content/bodies/Admin/exam%20data/summer_exams_2009__gcse.htm .

It is definitely cheaper to get them in Italy. You haven't said what area you are going to, but you need to find your local suppliers - preferably by recommendation.Don't forget to haggle.  - When I got my Kitchen they halved the price when I said it was too expensive      [down to about £5000 - a few years ago  -  'Risparmione' was the company]The cost included cooker and hob, fridge freezer, extractor hood and dishwasherThey delivered and fitted the kitchen for about 100 Euros - and did a better job than I could have

Should be OK About  plug adapters - take a few UK extension leads with 4 way sockets at the end and fit an Italian plug - saves on lots of adaptors, and helps any UK visitors with their UK electrical equipment.
