I learn, with great sadness, that Carol B has died. Many here will remember her well for her unwavering courage, determination & humanity. She was a strong & intelligent lady that did not suffer fools gladly. She helped many people on this forum, us included, & we will miss her.

Two nights ago a gecko appeared in my lounge. It stayed high up on the wall and I couldn't reach it even if I were brave enough to handle it.  Yes, I know they are quite sweet, eat mosquitoes, etc and it only scares me when it moves!  It didn't appear the next night but last night it had migrated to the hall. Now, I can just about live with it in the lounge but I couldn't relax if it came into the bedroom!  I don't want it to die and I don't want my dog to kill it, which she would if it went on the floor.

i have just received a letter from a notary in italy summarising their intensions in regards an inheritance, i’m trying to translate the letter but have come across the following phrase: ‘presentata la denuncia di successione’ , when I try to translate this it comes out as: ‘the complaint of succession’ which does not make sense – please can someone clarify this for me?

The orto so far this year has produced mixed results:

zucchini, green beans, tomatoes have gone mad

Thai holy basil, lemon grass, baby sweet corn also doing well, as are the swedes.

Failures at the moment: parsnips and mange tout. Think may need to shade them even more, or use more compost. Any other ideas?
