OK - in that case its all yours, but seeing that you are now back in the UK, I would make a UK will which will be acceptable in Italy, and then a two line simple handwritten holographic will in Italian that can be produced when and if.

Why would I?  And if I wanted to, would I contact an someone who thought advertising on a thread about IMU ona forum for expact would bring in some trade?  Personally i would NEVER contact a spammer whether avvocato o not.  I hope sincerely you think very carefully before ruining your reputation further with another pointless post.

If you are less than a month overdue its 3%, more than a month it goes up to 3.75% and then incrementally more depending on the time.  After a couple of yearrs the comune will go to the cartella esatoriale and that will mean fines and admin costs of about 50% .

YOu will pay IMU and TASI on the house and land (except if you live in the mountains where land is exempt).  You will pay TARI for your rubbish but get a bill from the comune. So you should have paid IMU and TASI on the house by 16 December last, your IMU on land if applicabel and not already paid is due by 10 Februray.  The next rate of IMU/TASI is due on 16 June.

You will need an Italian will, or at least an Italian holographic will for all your beni in Italy.   It depends a bit if the house is in your name, whether it was acquired while you were married, but with a new will you should be able to leave it to your family, who anyway will be in the 'legittima' under Italian law.    The new legislation on wills isfrom this eyar, but UK has opted out - so until we know excactly whats going to happen, Id say do a holographic will in the interim

Your problem is not the teaching, but the fact that you are Australian.  You will need a work contract in order to get your permesso di soggiorno, which you will need to work here.  As these things take time, you will need enough money to tide you over until you have the paperwork sorted out.  Get your Schengen visa before you leave home.

Most Italans cant speak Italian perfectly - when they start guessing past historic and subjunctives there's an almighty mess.  Striscia la notizia has a spot where famous Italians mangle the language.  So I woudnt worry, ... Sardinia like Sicily has Italian as a 'second language' and you will probably speak Italian as well as some of the locals.

HiYou will not be entitled to permanent residency as US citizens.  With your Permesso di Soggiorno you will be allowed residency on certain criteria - in your case probably elective residency.  However, as residents you will be subject to IVIE and IVIFE which measn you will pay the Italian govt 1% of your world wide patrimony in tax per year - that is private and business - which will mean you will probably want to revise your plans.   You will need a rental contract or a registered house purchase to gain reidency and proof that you will not be aburden on the Italian state, so you will also need to show you have a certain annual income and health insurance.

To answer your question that you have already answered yourself ,you will need a Permesso di Soggiorno and a CELTA at least to teach English in any recognised institution (and earn anything like a decent salary).   Lots of people speak English as a mothertongue, it doesnt mean they can teach.    So, as you will already know, having done your research, you will need a Schengen visa, and a way to get a PdS, which you will need to sort out in the first 2/3 weeks you are in Italy.  You can wait up to 6 months for  PdS to come through so you will need to have enough money to support yourself until you are able to work.  Obviously asking questions on forums like this, when you have already done your RESEARCH, wont tell you anything you dont already know.
