Has anyone any idea if the Italian Poste has the equivalent of a bankers draft and if so, are there are any limits on the amount and what is the cost...?
We are unsure about moving articles over there as opposed to buying when we get there, but know it will likely cost more to buy over there and be more hassle. So we want to get an idea of the cost of moving some of our stuff out there?
I'm sure there was a way of doing this in the past, but it's a while since we've had to deal with them. Perhaps another way forward either temporary or otherwise without getting an Italian mobile is to look at a virtual sim with an Italian number - cloud sim or the like. Search virtual SIM.
Have a look at google street view here if you have not already done so (you should). I would be concerned again at how high it is, the thin supports for the balcony and the house attached. But a road back and front!
Sorry, but I took a look at the area and at 1200m above sea level and a "main" road it's probably not safe (or possible) to cycle along. I think the house just said it all as it's likely not to be there, but in the river below. Can't imagine getting materials up to it without a great deal of issues and working on it, well! That's all apart from the cost and dealing with the comune.
I'm surprised the comune has not simply told you how much you need to pay. I would have a look on their website for future information. You can use this calculator here, but as Modi has said CAF will cost little.
I think all you need to do if you return to England and are asked at hospital or the GPs (which I doubt and has never happened to us) is show them your UK passport.

Trouble is it is a schengen area and the rules here don't look too good to me. Near the end of it it gives details on how long you can staty.
