Has anyone any idea if the Italian Poste has the equivalent of a bankers draft and if so, are there are any limits on the amount and what is the cost...?
We are unsure about moving articles over there as opposed to buying when we get there, but know it will likely cost more to buy over there and be more hassle. So we want to get an idea of the cost of moving some of our stuff out there?
I pleased Modica-sa did reply as I was looking forward to knowing the answer. I would ensure any UK yearly insurance does cover you as most limit your stay. Yes, your UK state pension can be paid in Italy and I almost certain (even in these strange times) this will continue regardless of the “B” word. What could be more at risk in future years is the up-rating, but again I think this will be okay.
Well back in the UK now, but was in Abruzzo at cica 276m asl , even in 30-40c for over 3 months we managed. Only real problem then was coriander of all things.
Forgive me if i'm wrong, but does the health insurance policies only run from January- December. Last year we was in the same boat so left til January as you pay 400euros (which is a good price) no matter how many months are left in the calender year.
I think you are very right to be concerned, but being still prepared to rely on a professional body without finding out for yourself if things are in order I would say is a bigger concern. Does the person own the place, is there any debt or other liability outstanding. Is the building in good state of repair e.g. does the roof need replacing is the place you are buying top floor. Does the place match the plans in all detail e.g. same windows and doors in the same place and same size. Yes you could get a professional(s) to check all these things, but you probably then need to check their findings.

Is the situation not worse than this and you would only have 90/180 days i.e. 3 months in any 6 month max in Italy?

Sorry Ronco, but Rhubarb and Parsnips grow fine in Italy. The former indeed without any change to that in the UK, and it grows better!
Do you mean ASL cover?
From what I've read Chris €400/person is not a lot more than buying in to the Italian system. The S1 I believe would have saved the yearly cost.
Yes, but Ugo an "E121" became an "S1" a few years back....
But Ugo the form "S1" does give health cover...
Chris I take it neither of you are not old enough for a uk state pension and therefore an S1?
