Italy’s favourite tenor, Andrea Bocelli, is to star in the official FIFA concert to mark the end of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa in July, it has been announced.

The concert, called "Celebrate Africa – the Grand Finale” will take place at the Coca Cola Dome, Johannesburg on July 9th, two days before the final.

Bocelli will be joined on stage by flautist Andrea Griminelli, rock star Bryan Adams, South African soprano Pretty Yende and the 60-strong Gauteng Choristers. The Johannesburg Festival Orchestra, conducted by Marcello Rota, will accompany the singers.

Tickets, costing R800 [£70.77 or $107.85] to R3,500 [£309.43 or $471.81] can be booked online here.

In another development regarding the World Cup, Italians may be able to see the matches in 3D in cinemas if a deal between the Benetton Group, Mr Berlusconi’s Mediaset Group and FIFA goes ahead.
