Italy's Most Expensive Street

Milan’s Via Montenapoleone is the world’s sixth most expensive street. To rent a one square meter of boutique space costs 7,500 euro a year. Yet, the requests for rental spaces keep increasing and the waitlist is up to a year.

The only Italian street to feature on real estate agency Cushman & Wakefield’s “Main Street Across the World” list, it is just behind Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay, New York’s Fifth Avenue and Paris’ Champs-Elysées.

The high volume of requests to grab a spot on Via Montenapoleone means the high-end luxury market is still going strong, with 80% of sales volume coming from foreign tourism.

Regarded as one of the leading streets in fashion, Via Montenapoleone is part of the Quadrilatero della Moda area, where Italian and international designers have their high-end boutiques and headquarters.

For those who do not want to wait a year to set up shop there, Via Sant’Andrea and Via della Spiga, just around the corner, are valuable alternatives, according to experts.
