So the first Pope to stand down; blames it on poor health (in mind and body) .... so nothing to do with the financial scandal about to hit then?

A very interesting but disturbing article, how many other Italian cities could follow, we all know it's bad here.

I think I need to get this off my chest, as it bugs me no end on this Forum/Community site. Now we all agree that this site exists for primarily the English speaking Ex-Pat community right; and by English speaking I mean just that not differing to

We went last year and the Fair was very good with exhibits from all over Italy, and a nice Christmas Fair outside, with local artisans showing their Christmas products. Samples of the food were good as well. But if you want REAL "Presepi" excellence a trip to Napoli is a must...

A very very close friend of ours has been driving a UK reg Car here for at least 6 years, and takes it back to the UK every year to MOT it. The local Police are very aware of it, and don't seem at all bothered, rather take the view that as long as it is maintained, taxed and insured they have better things to look at. It all depends if you are willing to risk it being stopped by an over zealous Caribinere, that knows you are not a tourist....

Re Telephone and Broadband, you will probably need to contact Telecom Italia, who do all this. Contact details http://www.telecomitalia.com/tit/en/consumer.html. but be prepared to wait as not know for Customer Service or promptness. It took us 5 weeks to get ours connected.

Those type of cartons are not recylable due to the metal foil content in them. Only Cartons with the Recycle Sign (the 3 arrows in a triangle) are.  If you buy wine try and use glass bottles, and milk and juice in plastic containers, all of which can be recycled in Bagni, and Conad stocks all these

If you find ANY Bank that will lend you money without proof of the ability to pay it back, let me know....Unless you have been living on Mars for the last two years you will know that there has been a World wide Banking crisis and equity alone does not mean that Banks will lend against it (it's called Security).... the last thing they need is another repossesed property to get rid of. If you do not have a Mortgage on it try and get a Business loan for a B&B and use the House as collateral, maybe....or start buying Lotto tickets..

I invested in a good set (4) of Snow Chains available over internet/Ebay, cost about £100 for 4 and fit them if needed. If you need them just pop them on in a couple of minutes, as if the snow is bad you will need them not snow tyres.
