How did we feel about Michael o'Leary's view about flying through volcanic ash?  Would we be happy to fly with Ryanair as we'd have more chance of arriving at our destination, or more likely to fall out of the sky?

We are thinking of going to Sardinia for a holiday in June and wonder which is the best bit to aim for.  Have heard of Costa Esmerelda, any views on it?

Trip Report: Positano May 2009  After our adventures in Rome and Avellino Province in Campania (see previous trip reports) we moved on for the main part of our holiday, some serious chilling out on the beach.  We left our Agriturismo near Contrado

Trip Report Campania May 2009  We drove south from Rome stopping for lunch in Cassino, and drove up to the Abbey but everything was shut for lunch, a spectacular setting and many reminders of the conflict from WW2.We somehow missed our turning and

There doesn't seem to be a Campania section any more on this forum, I did a lot of research for our holiday on it....needless to say we had a great time, though got lost in Avellino every time we went there, it became our least favourite place tha

Wow that does sound exciting!  I too am from the north west but only visited Rome for the first time for a few days last month, you can see my trip report somewhere in the Rome section... you can tell me what I really should have seen that I didn't...welcome, look forward to hearing more about Roma which seemed to be hotting up, as well as getting a tad crowded, when we left on 24th May...

and best of luck with your plans.  We had three days in Rome in May and drove south stopping at Cassino and heading up to the Abbey (I did write trip reports for Rome Campania and Positano), lovely countryside.  I am currently reading 'Italy's Sorrow' to get a grip on what went on in WW2 and the report of the conflict and photos of Cassino before and after is shocking.Have a great trip!

I think so, you can certainly send a message for the recipient to pick up that is not broadcast to everyone else.We had a holiday in Spoleto two years ago, how are they getting on with earthquake damage?  We stayed just outside at Rubbiano, fascinating place, but the weather was just a tad too hot for us and we had no air con.

We had perfect weather for our trip, from 2 to 24 May, but it had been very wet almost until we landed...  so glad we weren't there when it is as hot as that... our trip to Umbria was in 40 deg temperatures - too too hot.

Well said, yes JC was a real whirlwind and everyone was so generous, one even stripping off and running through olive groves?!I image the funds will be required for a long time yet, perhaps locals can keep us informed of what is happening in the area?
