Milazzo (Sicily)

Milazzo is a town in the Metropolitan City of Messina, Sicily, southern Italy. Several civilizations settled in Milazzo and left signs of their presence from the Neolithic age. In Homer's Odyssey Milazzo is the place where Ulysses is shipwrecked and meets Polyphemus. The Castle of Milazzo is within the circular “walled city” with walls that date from the 16th century. It is a precious site that contains the ancient “Palazzo dei Giurati” and the “Duomo” or old cathedral, which is one of the most important monuments of Italian Mannerism. The old city center, or “borgo antico", is distinguished by the large number of churches. The Cape of Milazzo offers amazing and unique views: from the Aeolian Islands to the white cap of Mt. Etna that reaches a height of 3,325 meters and towers over the mountain ridges of Nebrodi.

Almondy shortbread domes filled with custard and topped with icing, these classic Sicilian sweets were first created in the 1800s at the Monastero di Santa Maria dell Vergini in Palermo.

Whole pistachios and pistachio flour from Sicily will take these luscious cookies to new heights.

Italy’s volcanic Aeolian Islands are known for their vibrant local cuisine. This tasty summer salad features some of the local specialties from capers to tuna.

A Sicilian classic! The outer sesame seed crunch of these cookies goes oh-so-well with the satisfying moist lemony center.

What others are saying about Sicily

@sharon_5 asks:

We have bought a house in Sicily and i have been told we need to replace our roof tiles because of a law coming in.  i have searched the internet and cant find a law, so wondered if anyone could help me.  Could it be that we have asbestos roof tiles?

@lucydovi asks:

By succession law, we inherited a house. Our names are on the catasta. I want to sell my portion. Can I do so without getting my two sisters involved?

@zuri22780 asks:

Hi! This may be a strange question but I am looking for art classes or workshops in Italy specifically in the Catania or Palermo area of Sicily. I will be staying there for the month of January and I've had a hard time finding any schools that offer more short term classes or workshops.
